Another exhibition that is held by Korean Cultural Center Indonesia about Korean Modern Calligraphy! Therefore, i
f you are interested in arts, this exhibition will let you get some inspiration of arts.

Here is the short explanation:
(For more information please visit: Korean Cultural Center Indonesia)

Calligraphy is letters or sentences filled with soul through brush and ink. It is a calligraphy work that an artist put soul into universality called law firmed by history and establish a position of his or her own and the history.

Thus, it is completely dependent on whether the soul is there or not that letters can be an artwork. The level of the work is also dependent on the gravity of the soul. That is why we can feel the strength and the beauty just by the shape even if we do not know the whole meaning of the sentence. Calligraphy is not of old days but of today as long as there is soul in it. This is why the value is getting higher in modern days when research on artistry is continued. Calligraphy is just modern thing with human's inner side today as well as a long time ago since it can be a fair counter plan finally to a very realistic question of life: "What should I do if I seek to know myself".

"What is the difference between Korean calligraphy and Chinese or Japanese calligraphy" is the most asked question while I am in Indonesia. "What is the difference since they are all shaping letters using the four treasures of the scholar?" can be the meaning of that question, and I always felt this question as a dagger because it is a discussion on ethnic soul or my own character. It was always difficult to answer. Neither answering nor understanding is easy without proper knowledge Korean's spirit, history, and culture. Therefore, my answers in short conversations were always too macroscopic or too poor.

In that sense, invitational Exhibition of Korean Modern Calligraphy is surely special because it is an excellent answer to the question above. Above all, the artists make it so special. The doyen and backbone artists of modern Korean calligraphy world are participating in this exhibition. Many of them are commonly acknowledged as the representatives of modern Korean calligraphy world. They are gathered from all over Korea beyond the group or the clique including professors leading the department of calligraphy in universities. There were some limitation in this exhibition such as the number of invited artists, and the size and the number of pieces of artworks due to some conditions. Somebody may have opinions on that but it is a rare occasion to hold an invitational exhibition abroad with such members. People would be able to see and feel each different shape and soul through artworks in one place. How can this exhibition be not special since we can show today's Korean calligraphy culture which is a mixture of the Republic of Korea as shape and ethnic history as soul.
