New Charm in South Korea


The beauty of Nami Island, Jeju Island or Mount Seorak has become a powerful magnet to attract tourists to South Korea. However, South Korea actually still has a lot of natural potential that will make us amazed. Now, the country that is famous with K-Pop introduces Jeollanam-do province. This province has another name given which is "Green Heritage" because its ecological heritage. There are some major tourist destination in Jeollanam-do, which are:

1. Yeosu
Yeosu is the part of "Most Beautiful Bays in the World Organization". This city is increasingly more attractive because the beaches has the black sand from the volcanic eruption. In 2012, Yeosu became the host for "World Expo 2012"that opened the chance for people all over the world to display the unique things from their countries and together found the way of living in harmony. Yeosu is also known as the marine products processing.


2. Damyang
Damyang is the bamboo city. You can see the bamboo garden that has a lot of bamboo types and the other famous plant like metasequia in this city. In this place, we are introduced with the beauty of bamboo plants and the function as an oxygen provider.

You will get a chance to see the Exhibition of Bamboo World with the 'green future in bamboo forest' as the theme in June 27th, 2014 - August 15th, 2014. This festive celebrates the tradition of bamboo, Juk-chui Day or Juk-Sul Day every May 13th in lunar calendar. In that day, the residents plant the bamboo in the hills, after that they will drink kind of bamboo wine and play. These activities are always celebrated by the residents and has become the big festival from year to year.


3. Jeungdo
Jeungdo is known as the largest producer of natural salt in South Korea. In this city, we can find the large production house of salt which is Taepyong Salt Farm. Nowadays, in this production house is equipped with the wood train that allows tourists to see the salt production process, cultivation of salt in the mudflat and participate in a lot of activities for the salt process.

Taepyong Salt Farm is registered in Modern Cultural Heritage in 1997 and mudflat (the place for the cultivation of salt in Sinan) is appointed by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve area. Jeungdo Island Mudflats Festival is held in early August every year. On the other side, Jeungdo Island has the Wujeon Beach Resort that offers the experience from the calm and beauty beach.
